From Tragedy to Triumph: How an MVP Graduate Found Healing & Purpose Through Training

At STSK9, we have the privilege of witnessing incredible transformations every day. But some stories resonate on a deeper level, reminding us of the profound bond between humans and dogs, and the power of dedicated training. This is the story of one of our Master View Path graduates.

He always had a love for animals, growing up with family pets like Dalmatians and German Shepherds. But like many, he never had formal knowledge, they were simply beloved companions.

His real journey began in 2023, following a life-altering motorcycle accident. During a long and isolating recovery, he made a decision to help himself heal: he rescued a German Shepherd. His logic was simple and powerful: "A dog needs to walk," and that would force him to get out of the house.

His new GSD came with challenges, including being highly reactive to cats. Then, he added a second dog to the mix, a Husky mix puppy he was sure was a Malinois! It was at this point he realized he was in over his head. He saw potential in his dogs but had no idea how to unlock it consistently.

He told us, "I thought my GSD was trained but I had no clue what I did.. or how to duplicate."

This frustration led him to search the internet for answers, where he discovered STSK9. He recalls the moment clearly: "I remember seeing Rocky switching heeling styles and I remember wanting to look exactly like that with my dogs."

He started with Puppy University and was so impressed with the rapid results that he upgraded to the Master View Path (MVP) after just one month. His commitment was unwavering, even as he continued to recover from his accident.

"When I started the MVP I was still recovering and still had surgeries to go, but this didn’t stop me. I had a vision and was locked in target," he shared. He reframed the training as his physiotherapy, approaching every challenge not as a problem, but as an opportunity to improve.

For him, the Master View Path was more than just a dog training course. It became a cornerstone of his life.

"The MVP is a way of life , i learned so so many skills that i use in real life that isn't even related to dog training," he said. "It helped me heal , gave me the will to keep going in life , the need to ‘feel needed’. My dogs are everything to me."

The STSK9 method fundamentally changed his relationship with his dogs. He explains, "The understanding of STSK9 method just changed my life , I see training dogs like driving a car, default, easy , and fun! , and I absolutely can’t see myself training any other method."

Now, he experiences the joy of offered behaviors, a true sign of a deep and obsessive connection. "And the most amazing part is the offered behaviors I’m getting such as street heel. By now I absolutely have to beg my dogs to go have fun off leash and I absolutely love it!"

He perfectly captured the essence of our philosophy when he said:

"The MVP means so much. The STSK9 methods, of being part of the obsession and the offered behaviors and the road to creating that obsession and becoming part of it through the dogs natural instinct and not eye contact absolutely changed my life."

His final words are a testament to the life that STSK9 helps create: "My dogs are happy I’m happy. And I am absolutely living the dream and the life I always dreamed of with my best friends."
